Adam M. Smolen, President/CEO

Adam M. Smolen, President/CEO

Adam Smolen founded The Quantum Group in 1996 and has built the firm around relationships, resources, and reputation. His core expertise is the use of life insurance as a contingent asset class, to mitigate taxation and protect the assets of ultra-high net worth individuals/families, highly paid executives and professional athletes.

During his 30+ years in the life insurance industry Adam has underwritten, designed and negotiated the placement of over $2,500,000,000 of life insurance protection.

Adam is a perennial member of the Million Dollar Round Table’s (MDRT) “Top of the Table”, an annual accomplishment that places him in the top 1% of insurance brokers nationwide. He is also a member of the Forum 400, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), Baltimore Estate Planning Council, and Advisors in Philanthropy.

Born and raised in the Baltimore Metropolitan area of Maryland, Adam has made his home there and established himself as a respected member of the community. His dedication to his family and friends is one of his greatest attributes. His interest in philanthropy has led him to be instrumental in raising funds and awareness for many charitable organizations and causes.

Mysty D. Edrington, Executive Assistant & Director of Operations

Mysty joined The Quantum Group in 2001 and is responsible for the day-to-day operations inclusive of, but not limited to, new business processing, client communication, carrier coordination and all facets of the underwriting process. Mysty has extensive experience in the Life, Long Term Care, and Disability insurance industry since 1998 and has held her Life and Health Insurance licensing since 2003.

Mysty was born and raised in the Baltimore Metropolitan area of Maryland and is very passionate about health and fitness. She loves cheering on the home teams (“Go Orioles and Ravens”) and has been instrumental in raising money for various charities such as the American Cancer Society, BARCS and the Brigance Brigade Foundation (ALS).


Max Reamer, Senior Vice President

Max Reamer provides comprehensive insurance solutions for business owners, professionals, and families utilizing wealth creation, wealth preservation and tax mitigation strategies. Prior to joining The Quantum Group Max spent 5 years at Northwestern Mutual. Max holds a Maryland Life and Health producer license.

Max was born and raised in Baltimore and is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he played four years of varsity lacrosse. Max currently resides in downtown Baltimore with his wife Katie. He is an active member in the community where he is involved with The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ulman Foundation, The Associated, and JCC (Jewish Community Center). Max is also a Board Member of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council where he heads the committee for their Emerging Planners program along with being a Board Member of the JCC.
